Gov. Amosun Recalls Sacked State NLC Chairman

Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has given in to the call to reinstate the State Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, Akeem Ambali, who was sacked alongside 15 labour leaders in October 2016.

The Unions had on Sunday demanded the reinstatement of Ambali

Naija News recalls that the NLC had slated March 5 to protest over the non-payment of workers’ salaries and arrears and the recent sack of the NLC state chairman by the governor.

However, after a two-day meeting between Amosun, the President of NLC, Ayuba Wabba and leaders at the Governor’s Office in Abeokuta, the governor agreed to meet the demands of the organized labour including Ambali’s recall.

While the government had recalled the other 15 labour leaders, Ambali’s case was not revisited.

Speaking with newsmen after the meeting, Wabba said: “all the issues have been resolved.”

Naija News, however, understands that members of the union have today armed with placards saying ‘pay us our money’ in a peaceful protest at the Ogun State NLC office.
