Shehu Sani Speaks On Governors’ Inability To Pay N30,000 Minimum Wage
The Senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district, Shehu Sani, has criticized state governors over their inability to pay the N30,000 minimum wage demanded by the National Labour Congress.
Recall that Naija News reported that the chairman of Nigerian Governors Forum, Abdulaziz Yari, stated on Wednesday after the emergency meeting with governors in Abuja that the N30,000 minimum wage is not visible.
However, the Zamfara state Governor, stated that the demanded wage would be paid if the labour would agree to downsizing of workers across the country.
Sani, while reacting on Twitter, questioned why funds are not available to pay workers, yet campaigns and elections are being funded adequately.
He wrote: “There is enough money to pay elected officials. There is enough money to pay political appointees. There is enough money to pay campaign officials and foot soldiers.
“There is enough money to fund campaigns and elections but there is not enough to pay workers 30k wages without retrenchment.”
