Nigerian Army replaces commander of anti-Boko Haram troops, Operation Lafiya Dole

The Nigerian Army has removed the Theatre Commander of the counter-insurgency operation, Operation Lafiya Dole in the North East, Maj.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru.

Attahiru was consequently replaced by new commander, Maj.-Gen. Nicholas Rogers .

Military sources disclosed that prior to his redeployment, the new Theatre Commander, the Chief of Logistics at Army Headquarters, in Abuja. Rogers  would be the fifth commander of the operation to end Boko Haram insurgency in the North East.

However, the official announcement of the new appontment is yet to be made by the Army.

Meanwhile, sources at the Theatre Command Headquarters, in Maiduguri, told Daily Sun that Gen. Attahiru who was appointed, in May, will now move to the Army Headquarters as Deputy Chief of Policy and Plans.
