Pope Francis’ Representative in Nigeria to Resolve Crisis Over Bishop Appointment
The Representative of Pope Francis’, Monsignor Antonio Guido Filipazzi, is currently in Nigeria to resolve the crisis caused by the appointment of Peter Ebere Okpaleke as Bishop of Ahiara Diocese in Imo State by the then pontiff Benedict XVI.
Pope Francis’ ‘Apostolic Nuncio’ to Nigeria is also expected to make Priests who refused to see Okpaleke as a Bishop, comply with the Pope’s directives.
The Pope’s representative is expected to ensure priests reluctant to accept Okpaleke as the Bishop to comply with the directives of Pope Francis.

Hailing from Anambra State, Bishop Okpaleke has been rejected since he was posted to the Diocese of Ahiara in 2012 on the grounds of not being a native of Mbaise in Imo state.
The new Pope representative is fluent in English, Italian, French and German.
