Sydel Alicia Curry was born on October 20, 1994 in Charlotte, North Carolina. She spent her formative years in Charlotte and in the Canadian city of Toronto. For her education, Curry attended Queensway Christian College in Etobicoke, Ontario and Charlotte Christian School.

In middle school, Sydel Curry excelled in both volleyball and basketball. However, combining the two was impractical and she decided to focus on volleyball. Curry played high school volleyball at Charlotte Christian School and led her school to several records, including most wins in a single season. She also helped them reach the state quarterfinals three times. Curry also received individual awards such as CISAA All-Conference (four times) and NCISAA All-State (twice).

Due to her high school exploits, Sydel Curry received an athletic scholarship to Elon University. At Elon, she wore a redshirt her freshman year but came back in the second and has recorded 360 assists and 118 digs. In her third year, she did even better with 851 assists and 218 digs. For her fourth year, the North Carolina native recorded a staggering 1,170 submissions and 285 digs. Overall, she finished her college career with 2,381 assists, the eighth-highest in her school’s history. Curry was scheduled to play college volleyball for a fifth year, but a serious injury prevented her from doing so. She didn’t let her five years go to waste, however, earning a bachelor’s and master’s degree in psychology.

Sydel Curry is married to professional basketball player – Damion Lee. Lee is from Baltimore and was born on October 21, 1992. He didn’t draft in the 2016 draft but has since signed with the Golden State Warriors. Curry first met her future husband in 2013, but the couple are different when it comes to meeting. The former volleyball player said they met after he sneaked into her DM, while her boyfriend said their first meeting was at an NCAA tournament at Philadelphia Arena. Whatever it was, the couple embarked on a spate of dates that saw them fall in love.

Curry and Lee dated six months ago officially asked her and she said yes. The couple stayed together for four years before getting engaged in November 2017. Curry and her fiancé tied the knot on September 1, 2018. Their wedding ceremony took place at the Charlotte Marriott City Center and featured their loved ones. Curry’s famous brothers served as groomsmen, while her sister-in-law, Ayesha, was the matron of honor. The couple chronicled their wedding day on Instagram and also posted lovely tributes to each other. Curry described Lee as the greatest gift God has ever given her, while writing that he would never forget the sight of her walking down the aisle with tears in her eyes.

Sydel Curry comes from a superior family sporting genes. Her father, Dell Curry, is a former NBA shooter. During his 16-year career, he played for teams such as The Utah Jazz and The Charlotte Hornets. Her mother Sonya was also athletic at school before becoming a teacher. Sydel Curry has two older brothers namely Stephen and Seth. Stephen Curry has won three NBA championships and is widely regarded as the greatest marksman in NBA history. Seth, on the other hand, is a guard and plays for the Portland Trail Blazers.
