Belgian football player in the English professional league (EPL) Simon Mignolet plies his trade as a goalkeeper for Liverpool FC. He started his international career in 2003 and his senior club career in 2006. The Belgian stopper was born Simon Luc Hildebert Mignolet on March 6, 1988 Sint-Truiden, Belgium and was raised alongside his brother, Wouter Mignolet by Stefan Mignolet his father who raised the boys on his own. There have been no concrete details about her mother or why she is no longer in their lives.

Growing up, Minolet began to learn to play football with the help of his father who taught him how to be a goalkeeper. However, he had time for his studies and attended the Catholic University of Louvain from where he obtained a degree in political science. More so, he speaks English, French, Dutch and German.

His journey in the world of football started in his home country of Belgium with Sint-Truiden in 2004 where he had his youth career until 2006 when he was promoted to the club’s senior team. In 2010 he signed with Sunderland as there were many different clubs fighting for his signature. 3 years later and with 90 games under his belt, he moved on to the next team and signed for Liverpool FC where he remained as second goalkeeper. His move to Liverpool was entirely due to his great performance while with Sunderland.

Simon Mignolet’s greatest accomplishments are with his country for which, as noted, he represented at all levels. He received the call to play for the Belgian Under-16 team in 2003 and the following year he wore the Belgian colors for the Under-17s, then the Under-18s, then the under 19 in 2005 and 2006 respectively. By the time he was called up to play for the Red Devils in 2011, he had already played for the Under-20 and Under-21 teams.

As part of the build-up to the 2018 FIFA World CupRussia, Simon Mignolet, has been called up to represent the country after first representing the Red Devils in the FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign 2014 as second-choice goalkeeper after Thibaut Courtois. Although he was unable to wear his country’s gloves at the tournament, the country beat England to win the bronze medal.

Looking at his achievements so far as a goalkeeper, Simon Mignolet won the Belgian Second Division in 2009 and was named Belgian Goalkeeper of the Year for 2010. With Sunderland, he became the club’s 2013 Goalkeeper of the Year while while at Liverpool he was a UEFA Europa League runner-up in 2016 and UEFA Champions League in 2008.

That said, the former Sunderlanda goalkeeper stands tall at 6ft 4in despite his weight being 87kg. His overall measurements, however, weren’t predicted, but he’s certainly a man with good measurements as far as the eyes can tell.
