Dr. Murdock’s name at birth was Michael Dean Murdock. He was born on April 18, 1946 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, United States of America. He was born into a God-fearing Christian home, his father, John Murdock Sr, was a well-known full-time pastor in Louisiana and beyond. He grew up in a family of 9 – including 7 children.
Mike attended LaGrange High School in the Lake Charles area where he grew up. He was later admitted to Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas, but after a year and a half of college, he left to pursue his call to full-time ministry.
It was on the record that Mike Murdock held his first Still in 1961, at the age of 15, he began full-time evangelism in 1965, when he was only 19. He continued his evangelistic crusades from 1966 to the present day. Over the years, he has composed over 5,000 songs, some of which have been performed by very popular artists. He is also the author of over 200 books, including bestsellers. Dream Seeds, The Secrets of the Richest Man Who Ever Lived, to name a few. He is the host of a weekly Christian television program called Keys to Wisdom with Mike Murdock.

Mike Murdock married Linda Lormand in 1966. In 1979 the couple decided to adopt a son named Jason. Later that year, Mike and Linda separated and eventually divorced – after 13 years of marriage, towards the end of 1979. Custody of their son was awarded to Linda at the time of the divorce.
No reason was/was given by either party for their divorce but that hasn’t stopped people from speculating on the cause. Some have speculated that the couple’s divorce may have resulted from their inability to have children of their own, while others have argued that the divorce may have been due to personal differences in their marriage. Mike Murdock did not remarry after his divorce, but Linda Lormand did. She married a renowned geologist known as Frank Brown.
Aside from their adopted son named Jason, Mike Murdock and Linda had no biological children and Mike Murdock did not save any other children.

Milke Murdock’s parents are John Ellis Murdock and Willie Durham Murdock. His father, John Murdock was a pastor before Mike was called to the ministry. He was well known in the Louisiana area as a man of prayer, study, and preaching of the word of God. His father married his mother, Willie Durham, on May 26, 1934, and they would have had 7 children – although it is unclear if they were all his biological children. He founded many churches in Louisiana.
John E. Murdock was an excellent writer and he received national recognition for it. He is also a music composer and an author who has written a few books. He would always take the time to explain the doctrines he believed he had to Mike and chastise him to learn to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit and obey all of his instructions.
Mike Murdock’s mother and one of his sisters died a few years before his father. Her father reportedly passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 26, 2016, at his home, without giving any indication of illness or deterioration in his health. In fact, her father was said to be smiling and at peace with everyone the night before he died.

It is estimated that he is probably worth a little more than that figure, as the bulk of his fortune is in real estate. At some point in 2012, he put his residence up for sale, and it was estimated to be worth around $1.5 million, before it was listed. The 25-bedroom property, situated on 6.89 acres, was later listed on Realtor.com for $3.2 million. It was thought to have been sold for around $2.7 million.
