DeAndre Hopkins is a National Football League (NFL) player who began his professional career with Houston Texas after being selected in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Prior to that, he played college football at Clemson Universty (2010-2012), where he emerged as one of college football’s most prolific offenses.

DeAndre Rashaun Hopkins was born in Central, South Carolina on June 6, 1992 to Sabrina Greenlee and Harris Steve Hopkins. He was raised by his mother Sabrina and siblings Kesha Smith (sister), Marcus Greenlee (brother) and Shanterria Cobb (sister) after his father died in a car accident.

He attended DW Daniel High School in his hometown and took an active part in sports while he was there. In addition to playing soccer, he also ran lanes and played basketball. After the Lions basketball team won its third South Carolina State Championship in its senior season (2009-10), Hopkins was named the Independent Mail Player of the Year. In football, he recorded 23 touchdowns on both offense and defense. 57 receptions for 1,266 yards and 28 interceptions.

DeAndre Hopkins signed on to play for the ClemsonTigers football team at Clemson University, where he majored in Community Recreation, Sports and Camp Management from 2010-2012. While at Clemson, Hopkins was the school’s leading receiver and in 2012 had one of the best receiving spells in ACC history.
