An ex-banker, Adejare Sonde has been arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan Zonal Office, before the State High Court, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Sonde, who was arraigned on Monday, is being charged a 12-count charge on stealing of about N124 million, forgery and altering of documents.

Appearing before judge  A. A Akinyemi, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the 12-count charge.

However, the prosecution counsel, Cosmos Ugwu requested the court for a trial date and asked that the accused be remanded in prison custody.

The counsel to the defendant, E. E. Jacob told the court of a bail application already filed before the court.

He consequently appealed that the court allows the defendant remain in the EFCC’s custody pending the hearing of the bail application.

Mr. Akinyemi granted the defence request and ruled that the Sonde be remanded in EFCC’s custody pending hearing of bail application.

The case was adjourned to Friday February 16, 2018 for trial and hearing of bail application.
