Lane Johnson joined the National Football League(NFL) in 2013 when he was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2013 NFL Draft. Since then, the offensively oriented approach has radiated excellence and tenacity in competitive sports. Johnson began excelling at the game from his high school days and has maintained that standard to this day. He has played the majority of positions in the game and recorded great performances overall. Aside from his professional career, there is so much to know about the NFL player. Learning more about him would mean answering a few questions about his career and personal life.

Who is Lane Johnson?

He was born on May 8, 1990 in Groveton, Texas. Johnson has always had an inclination to play football. He is a graduate of Groveton High School, where he recorded impressive achievements in football. He was All-District and was also an All-State selection as quarterback. He was also on track; Lane set notable records in athletics in high school.

After high school, Johnson went to Kilgore College and played for the Kilgore Rangers team. He was a quarterback and also a tight end for the team. But Lane’s time with the Rangers was short-lived as he transferred to the University of Oklahoma after his freshman year. He joined the Oklahoma Sooners in 2009 and received a red shirt. The following year he played as a defensive and tight end.

In his junior year he played as an attacking tackle. Johnson was named a third-team All-American in his 2012 season when he also switched to left winger. After a successful college career, Johnson, who had submitted for the NFL Draft, attended the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana. He finished second among all offensive linemen in the long jump and 40-yard dash.

As predicted, he was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round (4th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft. He then signed a four-year, $19.85 million deal with the team. In 2016, Johnson got richer when he signed a six-year, $63 million extension with a $35.5 million guarantee. Not only did he get richer, but he was also ranked as the highest-paid legal apparatus in the NFL. In the second half of 2017, Lane earned $250,000 after winning the Pro Bowl.

NFL Suspensions

However, Lane Johnson would have had an impeccable record for some unacceptable violations of NFL regulations. During his 2014 season with the Eagles, the football player was suspended from the NFL after failing a performance-enhancing drug (PED) test. Johnson was reportedly suspended for ten games, although it was believed to be a four-game suspension. He returned in the 2016 season and was made right tackle.

Also in 2016, Johnson got another ten-game suspension for PED violations. This time the attacker protested that he had not noticed the ban on the substance to which he had responded positively. Despite his protest, his suspension was confirmed in October this year. The ten-game suspension also saw Lane lose his contract and salary guarantees. Not about to give up without a fight, the NFL player filed a lawsuit against the NFL for an appeal.

Family – children, who is his wife?

Through his devastating hardships, Lane Johnson finds solace in his sweet and wonderful family. He seems so busy with his professional career, but the NFL player never stops making time for his family. He is married to Chelsea Johnson (née Goodman). Chelsea’s father, John Goodman, who happens to be Johnson’s mentor, is a former NFL player. He played as a defensive end for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1981 to 1985.

The couple, who had been together for a long time, finally decided to tie the knot in 2013. They have two children together. The couple welcomed their first child, a boy named David Jace, in 2013, and in 2016 Chelsea gave birth to their second child, a girl named Journey Layne.

Body measurements – height, weight

The Eagles offensive tackle stands at a height of 1.98 m (6 ft 6 in), which is fairly proportional to his weight of 317 kg. Many may think the NFL player is slightly overweight, but there’s no denying that his weight is a huge advantage.
