Before joining WTAE-TV, the beauty with brain media personality worked as a freelance weather reporter at KDKA-TV for over two years. Ashley Dougherty was born on May 18, 1987 in Wampum, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. She grew up alongside her two older brothers, Chris Dougherty and Justin Dougherty.
Ashley Dougherty completed her undergraduate education from Mohawk High School. During high school, she was the only woman on the golf team and pole vault team. The pretty journalist was the vice-captain of her cheerleading team. Dougherty competed in the Pennsylvania Scholarship Pageant and finished in the top ten.
She is also a graduate of Bethany College, received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from West Virginia and later received her Broadcast Meteorology Certificate from Mississippi State University.

The down-to-earth journalist worked for two years from 2010 to 2012 as a freelance meteorologist at KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh. Seeking never-ending experiences, Dougherty joined WTAE-TV Channel 4 Action News, an ABC affiliate, where she has been handling the network’s morning and noon meteorology program since 2012.
In addition, the weather reporter has done numerous charitable works for her community, including participating in and winning the dance competition titled Dancing for a Cause, which aims to provide protection and rights against abuse and domestic violence for children and families, raising awareness among people against neglect and abuse of animals and working with animal shelters and animal welfare groups to provide shelters for cats and dogs. Interestingly, Dougherty is an avid animal lover who owns a cat named Bella and a dog named Bubba.

The couple sealed their union with a wedding bond on August 25, 2018. The wedding ceremony, hosted by Bumble Burgh Events, was attended by friends and family at the Iron Mill Farmstead in Pittsburgh.
