Singer and actress Vicky Wright died at the age of 63, according to her daughter. On Wednesday morning, Kelly Wright-Warhust tweeted that her “wonderful mother” had passed away.

“I wanted to use this forum to let everyone know because I know how much she valued your love and support in so many ways,” he added.

Last year, comedian Bobby Davro’s fiancée Vicky Wright was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

She was the daughter of former Wolverhampton Wanderers footballer Billy Wright and Joy, a member of The Beverley Sisters.

Born in Ironbridge, Shropshire, Billy Wright spent his entire football career with Wolves and was the first player in the world to reach 100 caps. In 1994, he succumbed to pancreatic cancer.

Ms Wright had previously performed on stage The Billy Wright Story, a one-woman show about her father’s football career.

Following Wednesday night’s announcement, tributes have flooded in, with Wolverhampton-born singer Beverley Knight describing Ms Wright as a “gem” on Twitter.

“Sending love and healing,” he continued.

BBC Midlands Today presenter Nick Owen tweeted:

“Oh no, devastating news. He had known Vicky for over four decades and thoroughly enjoyed her company.

“His father Billy gave me my first job in television.”

«I feel terribly sad tonight; “My thoughts are with the entire family,” she added.
