Tyrus was born on February 21, 1973 in Massachusetts, United States of America as George Murdoch. He grew up in Massachusetts along with his parents and siblings. However, there is no information about the parents and siblings of him. Furthermore, he was born under the zodiac sign of Pisces.

Clay appeared on the August 4, 2011 episode of Superstars after a three month absence due to filming for the horror movie ‘No One Lives’. Clay made his return to television on the 2012 episode of Raw under the moniker ‘The Funkasaurus’ as a fun-loving and hilarious dance gimmick. Also, he started using Ernest Miller’s theme song ‘Somebody call my momma’. Additionally, WWE released Murdoch on June 12, 2014.

Following that, in September 2014, Murdoch began his Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) debut under the ring name Tyrus. He had his first match against Shark Boy on the October 15 episode of Impact Wrestling and won the match. After playing several games, on April 18, 2018, Tyrus left the Impact and confirmed his departure from the company.
