Biography, Age

Toni Kroos was born on January 4, 1990 in Greifswald, East Germany to Birgit Kämmer and Roland Kroos. His mother, Birgit, is a professor of sports biology and a former badminton player for Germany, while his father, Roland is a football coach and also worked as a professional wrestler.

Growing up, Kroos struggled at school to focus all of his energy on football. His dad gave him a strong work ethic that made him stand out on the court. He first joined local club Greifswalder SC before later joining Hansa Rostock’s youth team.

By the time he was 16, Kroos had his dream come true Bayern Munich where he joined their youth team. He was rated highly by the team staff and was promoted to Bayern’s senior team just under a year. Meanwhile, due to training needs, Kroos had already started dropping out of school. His hard work and sacrifice, however, paid off when the 17-year-old made his debut for the Bavarians in the 2007-08 season on September 26. Within 18 minutes of coming on as a substitute, Kroos twice assisted Miroslav Klose in the 5-0 thrashing of opponents Energie Cottbus.

His UEFA Cup debut was also memorable. Kroos, who again appeared as a substitute against Red Star Belgrade, first provided an assist for Klose before scoring the winning goal in stoppage time. He then made a total of 20 appearances for the club this season.

Toni Kroos had a slow start to the following season. On the last day of the January transfer window, he was sent on loan to Bayer Leverkusen for 18 months to gain much-needed team playing experience. Kroos managed to establish himself as a regular first-team player with Leverkusen, making a total of 48 appearances for the side and scoring 10 goals along the way.

Kroos returned to Munich in 2010 and forged a strong midfield partnership with compatriot Bastian Schweinsteiger. He played a major role in the 2012-13 season when Bayern won a treble which included the Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League and DFB-Pokal. He maintained his performances the following season, which prompted Real Madrid to move for him.

In July 2014, Real Madrid signed Kroos for an undisclosed fee believed to be around €30 million. He then built a formidable partnership with the Croatian Luka Modric. In the 2015-16 season, under Zinedine Zidane, Kroos won his second Champions League trophy, becoming the first German player to do so with two different clubs. He continued to feature regularly for the club as they won another Champions League trophy the following season as well as the La Liga title.

Salary Toni Kroos

Toni Kroos is among the highest paid players in the world which is no surprise considering he plays for the richest football club in the world. In October 2016, Kroos penned a new £200,000-a-week deal that will expire in 2022. You can add that to the handsome, undisclosed sum Adidas pays the athlete to wear his merchandise.

Family – Brother, Wife, Children

Toni Kroos has a younger brother named Felix, who was born on March 12, 1991. Felix, just like Toni, is a professional footballer but has not been as successful as his brother. He currently plays for German second division Union Berlin after spending six years with Werder Bremen.

Toni Kroos is married to his longtime girlfriend Jessica Farber, whom he met as a schoolboy. The couple, inseparable since meeting, had their first son, Leon, out of wedlock before exchanging vows in a private ceremony on June 13, 2015.

Leon was born on August 14, 2013. Their second child, daughter Amélie, was born on July 20, 2016.
