BIOGRAPHY
Coming from a wealthy family, Ticky Holgado abandoned his studies relatively early, preferring to embark on a career as a musician and singer. From galas to concerts, he sympathized with some great stars of the yé-yé era, even becoming the private secretary of Claude François , then of Johnny Hallyday at the end of the sixties.

With one foot in show business, he made his first appearance in the cinema in 1980 in the series Z Les Surdoués de la premiere company , then in Putain d’histoire d’amour by Gilles Béhat the following year. After a multitude of small roles in films with rather schooly humor, in 1987 he played an inspector in Les Keufs by Josiane Balasko.

Popular and cheeky actor, Ticky Holgado plays alongside Gérard Jugnot in the medieval comedy Without fear and without reproach (1988), plays the lawyer Mégrin in Uranus (1990) by Claude Berri, then plays a crazy hotelier offering his lodging to Jacques Villeret in The Professional Secrets of Dr Apfelglück in 1991.

That same year, his notoriety increased thanks to A Wonderful Time. In this dramatic comedy written, directed and performed by Jugnot, he plays “Crayon”, a talkative and clumsy homeless man. This performance allowed him to obtain, in 1992, his first nomination for the César for Best Supporting Role (Jean Carmet was crowned, for Merci la vie ).

Also in 1991, Ticky Holgado starred in the strange Delicatessen by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Often liking to work with people he knows well, the actor will appear in three other feature films by the filmmaker with a very visual style: The City of Lost Children (1995), The Fabulous Destiny of Amélie Poulain (2001) and A Long Sunday engagement (2004).

Even if he is never headlining, Ticky Holgado is very present in the landscape of French cinema, especially in the 1990s. We find him in the comedies Gazon maudit (Josiane Balasko, 1995), The Most Beautiful Job in the World (Gérard Lauzier, 1996) or Le Schpountz (Gerard Oury, 1999).

In 1999, the 55-year-old actor finally landed a leading role in Le Sourire du clown , a thriller by Eric Besnard. In this dark film, he plays an old clown, sad and tired of life, who, when he tries to commit suicide, witnesses a murder… At his side, we find Bruno Putzulu, Vincent Elbaz and François Berléand.

Two days before his death, due to cancer, Ticky Holgado was still filming Les Parisiens by Claude Lelouch (a director to whom he is accustomed since he played in Les Misérables and Men, Women: Instructions for Use ), released in September 2004.
