BIOGRAPHY
Steve Zahn began his acting career in the theater by getting the lead role in a play set in his native Minnesota, Biloxie Blues . This first experience led him to spend 13 months with Tommy Tune’s company to play Bye bye Birdie . He then rubbed shoulders on stage with Ethan Hawke and met his future wife, Robyn Peterman. Noticed by Ben Stiller , he took part in Génération 90 , in 1994.

The filming continued. He played a young submariner in USS Alabama in 1995, a delinquent in Out of reach in 1998. In the meantime, he had a decisive meeting, that of Tom Hanks , who made him play in his first film as a director , That Thing you do in 1996. The two actors found themselves under the direction of Nora Ephron , in 1998, in You have a message .

But it was in 1999 that he definitely got noticed by Hollywood professionals and independent producers, thanks to Happy, Texas ( Mark Illsley ). His performance was recognized at the Independent Spirit awards and at Sundance. From then on, he multiplied the roles. The actor says he accepts these roles with pleasure and philosophy while continuing to play in smaller productions such as Shattered Glass (2003), nominated in several festivals, or Employee of the Month in 2004, where he shares the bill with Matt Dillon .

The following year, Steve Zahn played the role of the father of Zachary Gordon and his numerous brothers in the family comedy Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2011).

On the small side, Steve Zahn obtains an important role in the critically acclaimed series Treme (2010 – 2013), that of an eternal adolescent extremely in tune with the eventful and musical life of the famous district of New Orleans. The actor then continued with two series in which he played the main role but which were quickly canceled ( Mind Games and Mad Dogs ).
