Steve Wozniak: career and achievements

Wozniak and Jobs began working in a family garage to create a user-friendly alternative to computers that was introduced by many International Business Machines at the time. Wozniak handled product invention and Jobs handled all marketing activities. Shortly after the company was established, Wozniak created ‘Apple I’. With Wozniak’s knowledge of electronics and Jobs’s marketing skills, the two were well prepared to do business together. Wozniak went on to design the ‘Apple II’ as part of the company’s series of personal computers. Finally, in 1983, Apple had a stock value of $985 million.

However, in 1985 Wozniak ended his employment at Apple. In February 1981, Wozniak was in an accident when he crashed his private plane while taking off from Santa Cruz Sky Park. The accident caused him numerous injuries and amnesia and he too took a long time to recover. After his recovery from the accident, he created a new company, responsible for the first universal programmable remote control called ‘CL 9’. Similarly, in 1990, Wozniak teamed up with Mitchell Kapor and established the ‘Electronic Frontier Foundation’, an organization that provides legal assistance to hackers facing criminal prosecution. He also founded ‘Wheels of Zeus (WoZ) in 2002, whose goal is to develop wireless GPS technology.

Wozniak’s life is definitely an inspiration to many and eventually a movie called ‘Jobs’ happened. It was released in 2013. The film featured actor ‘Ashton Kutcher’ as the co-founder of Apple Jobs and actor ‘Josh Gad’ as Wozniak. Contrary to the review’s prediction that the film is very good, the film was littered with negative reviews. Additionally, Wozniak himself gave the film a negative review on the Gizmodo website, writing, “I felt bad for so many people I know well who were portrayed incorrectly in their interactions with Jobs and the company.” Wozniak has also appeared on the reality show ‘Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List’ and on ABC’s ‘Dancing with the Stars’ (Season 8).
