Steve Harvey is an American comedian, actor, radio and television show host, producer, and author of several relationship guides.
Steve Harvey’s bio
Born in Welch, West Virginia on January 17, 1957 as Broderick Stephen Harvey, Steve was the last of five children. His family moved to Cleveland when he was young and attended Glenville High School, from which he graduated in 1974. He continued his academic career and moved back to his native state of West Virginia, where he attended state university.
After graduating in his early twenties, SteveHarvey tried different jobs to find his true calling – even if it was professional boxing – but found fulfillment in all of them. He eventually transitioned into stand-up comedy, performing his very first show in 1985 (Hilarities Comedy Club, Cleveland, Ohio). In doing so, he found his satisfaction. His debut in the industry as a comedian earned him just $50 a week.
After several years of perfecting his act by performing at small clubs, Steve finally found his breakthrough when he was named a finalist in the 1990 annual Johnnie Walker National Comedy Search. Meanwhile, before his big break, life was difficult as he was virtually homeless and mostly broke at the time. He mostly slept in his car when tour operators didn’t provide hotel accommodation, and bathed at gas stations or while showering at the pool.
Following Harvey’s career, he became the host of the esteemed Showtime at the Apollo from 1993 to 2000. During the time he hosted the iconic show, he had other things on his plate, such as a starring role in Me and the Boys, a 1994 show on ABC. He also went on to star on the fledgling WB Network show, The Steve Harvey Show , which aired from 1996-2002. Although the show was very popular, it only resonated with most African Americans. The show also marked the beginning of a productive professional partnership between Steve Harvey and Cedric the Entertainer, a younger comedian.
His career in stand-up comedy spanned 27 years culminating at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas where he performed live for 2 hours on pay-per-view format and completed his career in stand-up comedy.
Steve Harvey has hosted various TV shows including Family Feud , Celebrity Family Feud, Little Big Shots, Little Big Shots: Forever Young and Steve Harvey ‘s Funderdome. He is also the host of a weekday morning radio program. The Steve Harvey Morning Show In 2007 he received Radio & Records magazine’s Syndicated Personality / Show of the Year award.
As an actor, Harvey made his big screen debut in a supporting role in Temptations Warring (2003). Other of his films are Love Don’t Cost Nothing (2003), You’ve Been Served (2004), Johnson Family Vacation (2004), Racing Stripes (2005), Madea Goes to Jail (2009) and Think Like a Man (2012). He was also a voice actor in the 2005 animated Racing Stripes.
Finally, Steve Harvey’s debut relationship guide, Act Like a Lady , Think Like a Man (2009) and its sequel, Serious Talk , No Chaser: How to Find, Keep, and Understand a Man. (2010) included his name in the list of best-selling authors. Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man was made into a blockbuster film and sequel with an interesting soundtrack by Jenifer Hudson, Neyo and Rick Ross.
Not only has he improved people’s relationship through books, but he also launched a dating website called Delightful in 2014.
After working so hard to get where he is today, Steve Harvey gives back to society through his Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation.

As you’d expect, this hardworking man managed to work his way through thick and thin to the peak of his career, reaping the rewards of his labors for sure. His net worth is estimated at over $110 million. Harvey reportedly makes a salary of $30 million a year, although a 2017 report by Forbes revealed that he made more than $42.5 million in one year.

Steve Harvey is the last child of Eloise and Jesse Harvey’s five children. His father, a miner, died in 2000 from black lung disease.
As the son of a miner, Steve was obviously not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Funnily enough, it was named after an acting superstar then known as Broderick Crawford.
The popular TV presenter has been married three times. First Marcia Harvey (1980-1994) and Mary Shackelford (1996-2005). Although both marriages ended in divorce, Harvey’s divorce from Mary Shackelford was particularly nasty and very public.
In June 2007, he married Marjorie Bridges, and the couple celebrated 10 years of wedded bliss in June 2017. Harvey’s third marriage seems to have provided him with everything he ever wanted in a union. Marjorie helped him become a better man and is the reason for his recent success.

Harvey has seven children – 4 biological and 3 stepchildren (Morgan, Jason and Lori) that Marjorie had with her ex-husband. He has two daughters, Brandi and Karli, and a son, Broderick Harvey Jr., from his first marriage, while his second marriage produced another son, Wynton.
Steve also has four grandchildren with Marjorie – two by Jason, one by Morgan and one by Karli.
