Shelby Stanga was born in downstate Louisiana on the first day of January 1960. Details of his origins, immediate family, and childhood have yet to be released for public consumption. The only information available about his young age is that Stanga was attending an academic institution in his neighborhood before his mother asked him to put his studies on hold as she feared for his safety, as mentioned earlier. However, it is not known whether he later continued his studies.

It was after leaving school in Shelby that he began to visit and learn about the marshes in his area. And at the age of his mid-teens, he was already acquainted and knowledgeable about the swamps.

Shelby Stanga’s exploration of the swamps opened up opportunities for him to gain valuable experience in swamp life, including how to master timber trees. The first time he demonstrated his logging skills was after he was challenged to carry a fallen Cyprus tree to a swamp he regularly visits.

This reality star owes his rise to notorietyHistory Channel which picked him up due to his vast knowledge of the swamps. His stint on the nature-focused channel began in 2008 on Ax Men. The series also features other loggers and their work in the forests of Alaska, British Columbia in Canada, and Oregon.
