Gronk was born on May 14, 1989 in Amherst, New York into a family of football players. His parents are Gordon Gronkowski and Diane Walter. He is a Caucasian with Polish blood in his veins. Rob is the second of five brothers who were all college football players. Moreso, he attended Williams Ville North High School where he began his career in his junior year as a multisport star who had a tight end in football and a strong center in basketball. The Amherst-born player’s outstanding performance in football earned him the All-Western New York First Team and All-State Second Team titles. He won SuperpPrep American and Prep-Star All American titles among many other titles he won in his senior year at Woodland Hills High School.

After high school, Gronk continued his footballing career at the University of Arizona, where he played for the Arizona Wildcats from 2007-2009. He missed his first three games of the inaugural 2008 season but came back to equalize the loss, who recorded 47 receptions from 672 yards. A feat that earned him the All-Pac-10 First Team Tight End title. He was also named an Associated Press Third-Team All-American that same year.

In 2010, Gronkowski was signed by the New England Patriots after completing her studies at the University of Arizona. He was sidelined briefly with a back injury, but quickly established himself as a rising star by becoming the first and youngest rookie in NFL history to break the record and hit three touchdowns in a single game. He received a Rob Gronkowski Award from Madden NFL12.

Due to his impressive performance, the new England Patriots renewed his $54 million contract for six years in 2012. This was the highest bid ever made for a tight finish in NFL history. He has proven himself with 10 touchdowns despite a broken forearm, making it the third close finish in three seasons behind Toney Gonzalez and Antonio Gates.

Rob Gronkowski was given a game suspension in week 13 of the 2017 season for body slamming Buffalo Bills quarterback TreDavious White when the quarterback intercepted a pass intended for him. The foul caused White a concussion and earned Gronkowski a 1-match ban the following day, December 4, 2017. He served the suspension in full and has since returned to the league. Though there were rumors of his retirement in 2018, Gronks has debunked it all.
