BIOGRAPHY

Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Richard Belzer began his career in 1972 in comedy, doing stand-up and working as a room attendant for Saturday Night Live . Then he will join the show in his own right in small roles. In 1975, he made his film debut in a Kenneth Shapiro film , Do It With Your Fingers ; a sketch film parodying TV Shows.

If he made a place for himself in the limelight thanks to the register of comedy, it was above all under the guise of the character of John Munch that he earned his stripes. In 1993, he took this role in the series Homicide until 1999, then in New York, Special Unit until 2016.

A character also passed down to posterity in a tasty way: the actor has in fact played him in various series , sometimes in Crossover. We were able to find him in Arrested Development ; 30 Rock ; The Wire , for one episode; or even in season 5 of the X-Files series .
