BIOGRAPHY
Son of Japanese immigrants, Pat Morita was born in California. While he began a career as a technician in aeronautics, he decided to abandon everything to devote himself to his passion, comedy, first in cabarets then in television series. He distinguished himself in very popular series of the 70s and 80s such as MASH , La Croisière s’amuse and Happy days , where he played the boss of the café in which Fonzie and Co. come to do their business.

In 1984, his role as the wise Miyagi in Karate Kid , where he trained the young Ralph Macchio , brought him fame as well as a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He will reprise his role as a mischievous martial arts master in the three sequels, Karate Kid 2 (1986), Karate Kid 3 (1989) and Miss Karate Kid (1993, where he trains a beginner Hilary Swank ), while he He doesn’t have a single notion of combat to his credit. Pat Morita then became more rare, appearing in the credits of Even Cowgirls Get the Blues by Gus Van Sant (1993) and lending his voice to the Emperor of Mulan (1998). He was awarded his Hollywood star in 1994.
