On June 6, 1990 Ryan Higa was born in Hilo.Hawai, United States. Although born in the United States, he is of Japanese descent. A skilled and talented lad, he trained and competed in judo and earned a black belt.
He attended Waiakea High School where he also successfully created his first YouTube channel alongside Sean Fujiyoshi, Tim Enos and Tarynn Nago. The channel, titled Nigahia, was launched on July 20, 2016 while he was graduating from high school in 2008.
How Higa turned out to be a YouTuber outside of Nuclear Medicine, which he set out to study at the University of Nevada, is still a mystery to many of his followers. With accolades for the first videos he uploaded to his channels and encouraging subscriptions, he dropped out of film after his first semester at university.
In 2006, after starting his YouTube channel created along with his crew, he and Sean Fujiyoshi released videos of themselves lip-syncing to the songs.
