Nancy Kerrigan, the daughter of welder Daniel Kerrigan and housewife Brendan, was born on October 13th , 1969 in Stoneham , Massachusetts. She has two older brothers; Michael and Mark who played hockey while Nancy took up figure skating at the age of 6. With a lot of training, she won the “Boston Open” competition at the age of 9 more figure skating courses, although at the time they could hardly afford it.

With the increased focus on her skating career, Nancy did well not to slack off in her academics. She attended Stoneham High School and Emmanuel College, where she earned a degree in business. Kerrigan trained with Theresa Martin until she was 16. She was also fortunate to stay with Denise Morrissey and be coached by Evy and Mary Scotvoid, two famous figure skating coaches.

Fourth place in the junior category of the 1987 US Figure Skating Championship, Nancy Kerrigan continued to make her mark in the figure skating game. In 1991, she finished third in the United States Figure Skating Championship, at which point she was becoming increasingly important in the game. 1992 seemed like a breakthrough for Nancy Kerrigan as she placed second in the US Figure Skating Championships and picked up both bronze and silver medals at the Winter Olympics and World Championships.

Eventually winning the U.S. Figure Skating Championship in 1993, things turned a little darker for Nancy Kerrigan when she was attacked with a police baton by the ex-husband of her competitor Tonya Harding in the first month of 1994. This injured her and she retired from the US Championship for that year. However, she recovered early when she competed in the 1994 Winter Olympics. To everyone’s amazement, she won a silver medal, dropped her skates, and retired from amateur competition.

Since then, Nancy Kerrigan has competed in a few other professional competitions such as the Ice Wars. She became more involved in various ice skating shows, appearing in films such as Blades of Fame (2017), took part in a dance show Dancing With the Stars ” as one of its contestants, but was eliminated in the seventh week of the competition.

A year after her retirement, Nancy Kerrigander tied the knot with her agent Jerry Solomon, who was married three times to a son by his second wife. They have three children together; Matthew (1996), Brian (2005) and Nicole (2008). While trying to conceive, she suffered six miscarriages but eventually received treatments that got all three children pregnant. She lives happily with her family in Lynnfield, Massachusetts.
