BIOGRAPHY
Nancy García , originally from Oaxaca, is an educator whose life was transformed when she was chosen to star in Roma (2018), a film that is listed as the masterpiece of Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón ( Gravity, And Your Mom Too, The Children of the Man ) . . Nancy came to the Rome casting by chance , as she found out that they needed two people who spoke Mixtec perfectly. The young teacher thought it was a good idea to take her best friend with her, Yalitza Aparicio , who would end up landing Roma ‘s lead role , Cleo. For this role, Nancy taught Yalitza to speak Mixtec. Although Nancy García does not have a professional career as an actress, the young woman has received good reviews thanks to her performance as Adela, the second maid of a middle-class family settled in the Roma neighborhood. Regarding her debut in the cinema, Nancy has assured in different interviews that she feels lucky to have worked with Cuarón but, above all, that she has been allowed to speak Mixtec in a film that will resonate worldwide.
