Michelle was named Michelle Perez Maglalang when she was born on October 20, 1970, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Filipino parents. His parents emigrated to the United States on an employer-sponsored visa several months before he was born. Her mother is Rafaela (housewife and teacher) and her father is Apolo DeCastro Maglalang, who when Michelle was born was still a doctor in training.

Young Malkin raised her in Absecon, New Jersey as her parents moved there after her father completed medical school. His family was a devout Roman Catholic. In this capacity, she attended Holy Spirit Catholic High School and graduated in 1988. She enrolled at Oberlin College to study English. In college, she was very active in extracurricular activities in the press, as a tax preparation assistant and as a network librarian. After graduating from college in 1992, Michelle was on her way to becoming a journalist.

She began her journalism career with the LosAngeles Daily News in 1992 where she was a columnist until 1994. In 1995 she was in Washington DC at the Competitive Enterprise Institute as a journalism fellow. The institute is described as a free market, anti-government regulation, libertarian think tank. Michelle Malkin had only been there a year when she later moved to Seattle, Washington, where she wrote columns for the Seattle Times. She became a columnist for the National Syndicate of Creators in 1999.

On Fox News Channel, she was a regular guest on O’Reilly Factor and has been with the news network for years. From 2007 until now, she has focused more on her career as a blogger, writer and public speaker. However, she still makes a few television appearances, including on Fox News and Fox & Friends once a week, mostly with Sean Hannity and formerly with Greta Van Susteren, respectively.

Michelle married Jesse Malkin, her husband, on June 24, 1993. The two lovers first met in college and dated for just two years before deciding to start a family together.

They currently have two children. Their first child, Veronica Mae Malkin, was born in 1999 with some health issues which she has been managing well since then, while their second child; Julian Daniel Malkin was born in 2003.

Veronica Mae Malkin was born slightly underweight in 1999 and Michelle revealed in a blog post about Veronica’s health issues that she regularly suffered from breathing difficulties. However, “her life despite all these obstacles impressed her.”

Jesse Malkin, Michelle’s husband, previously worked as an Associate Policy Analyst and Health Care Economist for RAND Corporation. Michelle again revealed on her blog that her husband had to quit his “lucrative job as a healthcare consultant” to become a stay-at-home dad. Such is the level of love and commitment to family that exists between couples.

The family of four still enjoy a happy married life and reside in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
