BIOGRAPHY
Daughter of Tippi Hedren , Melanie Griffith took drama classes as a teenager and also became a model. She made her film debut in The Fugue (1975, Arthur Penn ) and established the image of a vanished blonde as in The Spider’s Web (id., Stuart Rosenberg ). In 1981, she played alongside her mother in Roar , produced and directed by her stepfather, Noel Marshall , but it was probably Brian De Palma and Jonathan Demme who revealed her to the general public thanks to Body double (1984) and Dangereuse in all respects (1986).

In 1988, she broke away from her label as a sexy young woman thanks to her role as a willing secretary in Mike Nichols ‘ Working Girl , for which she was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress and won the Golden Globe. She then diversified her roles, notably playing a young wife persecuted by her tenant in Window on Pacific (1990), a spy in A Glimmer in the Night (1991) and a police detective in A Stranger Among Us (1992) under the direction of Sidney Lumet . In her forties, she invests herself in roles of touching women in their maturity in front of the camera of prestigious directors such as Adrian Lyne ( Lolita , 1996), Woody Allen ( Celebrity , 1998), Larry Clark ( Another day in paradise , 1998 ) or in The Head in the Hat Box (1999) under the direction of her husband Antonio Banderas . In 2002, she starred alongside Patrick Swayze and Penelope Ann Miller in the romantic drama Forever Lulu .
