Echikunwoke was born in Spokane, Washington on 28. May 1983 to Anita Laurie, a mother of English, Irish and German descent. Her father, Onigwe Versato Echikunwoke, is Nigerian and belongs to the Igbo tribe. Echikunwoke was born in Spokane and raised in Chinle, Arizona on a Navajo Indian reservation.
Her grandfather is a traditional Igbo chief, which makes her an African allegiance. Megalyn is not her parents’ only child, she has two siblings – a brother named Miki and a sister named Misty.
Megalyn’s rise to fame
The talented actress was first spotted in 1997, when she was just fourteen attending a summer art camp. After a fantastic performance at camp, she began auditioning roles both through videotapes and in person. Eventually, in 1998, fate smiled on her and she appeared in the TV miniseries Creature. She also appeared as a guest on The Steve Harvey Show.
Megalyn played the adult version of Isabelle Tyler on the sci-fi television series The 4400 until 2007. She portrayed coffeehouse singer Cherish Pardee on MTV soap Spyder Games and was also in the first season of 24 as Nicole Palmer, David Palmer’s daughter.
