By the time Matt was 15, he had a fire in his heart for adventure and was already climbing peaks and training for a triathlon. Matt does not find modern life attractive and feels that he lacks contact with nature. He wanted to experience more of nature, trees, animals and plants. At 23, he was able to set a record for covering 1,700 miles after crossing the California ridge in 58 days.
