BIOGRAPHY
Born August 6, 1981 in Queens, New York, Leslie Odom Jr. grew up in Philadelphia. After studying acting and singing at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, he made his Broadway debut at age 17 in Rent . He continues to stand out by playing in numerous musical comedies such as Leap Of Faith, Dreamgirls and Hamilton , a true phenomenon across the Atlantic. This piece, written and composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda , focuses on the life of the Founding Father of the United States of America Alexander Hamilton by mixing rap and hip-hop. Leslie Odom Jr. won a Tony Award for Best Actor in 2016 for his portrayal of Aaron Burr. He also exercises his passion for music as a solo artist and has currently released four albums.

On television, in addition to appearances in Gilmore Girls , Grey’s Anatomy and Supernatural , he landed recurring roles in CSI: Miami (2003 -2006), Smash (musical series which allowed him to reconnect with his first loves), Person of Interest (2013-2014) and New York Special Unit (2013-2015). In the cinema, we meet him among the prestigious cast of Murder on the Orient-Express (2017), the Oscar-nominated biopic Harriet (2019), the much-maligned Music (2021) by Sia and One Night in Miami (id.), first directorial effort by Regina King , in which he plays soul singer Sam Cooke. An interpretation which earned him not only a Golden Globe nomination for best supporting actor but also a nomination for best original song with the title Speak Now which he performed.

He was then in the credits of Many Saints Of Newark , a feature film derived from the cult series The Sopranos , before being one of the suspects in Glass Onion: a tale of daggers drawn on Netflix. This new investigation by detective Benoit Blanc ( Daniel Craig ) takes place this time on a paradise island in Greece and focuses on a tech billionaire and his eccentric group of friends.

After giving voice in the animated series Central Park and The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder , Leslie Odom Jr. radically changes register in 2023 with The Exorcist – Devotion by David Gordon Green , conceived as a sequel to the classic ofWilliam Friedkin . The actor plays a father confronted with the possession of his daughter.
