BIOGRAPHY
After a troubled childhood in Ireland, Jonathan Rhys-Meyer was spotted at the age of 16 to play in The War of the Buttons, It Begins Again . He does not get the role and decides to abandon his career plans. Spotted in an advertisement, this time he landed a small role in A Man of No Importance (1994) alongside Albert Finney .

His career continued in 1996 when he was spotted by director Neil Jordan , who considered him the “new Tom Cruise”, and chose him to play Liam Neeson ‘s assassin in Michael Collins . He then appeared constantly in the cinema in a series of very different films: The Maker (1997) by Tim Hunter with Matthew Modine where he played a teenage criminal, B. Monkey (1998) and Titus (1999) where he respectively played the opposite role. Asia Argento and Rupert Everett on the one hand, Anthony Hopkins and Jessica Lange on the other.

His acclaimed rockstar performance in Velvet Goldmine allows him to choose his films more freely. He plays Keira Knightley ‘s boyfriend in Play It Like Beckham (2002), a success in Great Britain, Romola Garai ‘s fickle husband in Vanity Fair (2004) and hits the screen in Match Point by Woody Allen , in the role of a man incapable of taking responsibility for his choices.

If he makes a brief appearance opposite Tom Cruise in the blockbuster Mission: Impossible III , he will experience his biggest successes on television. He first played Elvis Presley in a TV movie which won him a Golden Globe. Then he achieved recognition with the series The Tudors where his interpretation of King Henry VIII was particularly noted. The young actor, however, has not forgotten the big screen and in 2010 notably offered himself a small break in the action film From Paris With Love alongside John Travolta . (Dublin, Ireland)
