BIOGRAPHY
Born in Glasgow (Scotland), John Barrowman spent his childhood in the United States in the state of Illinois. Encouraged by his teachers, he began studying performing arts at the International University of San Diego. While he wanted to become an actor, singer and dancer, he obtained the role of Billy Crocker in the musical Anything Goes in London.

The young actor landed numerous theater roles in renowned plays, such as The Phantom of the Opera and La Cage aux Folles . In 1995, he seduced American television, which first discovered him in the prime time soap Central Park West broadcast on CBS, mixing ambition, sex and power. He joins Victoria Principal and Casper Van Dien at the heart of a family hiding compromising secrets in the series Titans . Ten years after his screen debut, he got the lead role in the film Megalodon: Shark Attack 3 , a performance which marked his first steps in a feature film.

2005 marks a turning point in his career. He becomes a science fiction hero in Doctor Who . In this cult series, of which he was a fan at a young age, he plays one of the Doctor’s traveling companions. Faced with the popularity of Captain Jack Harkness, the showrunner of the series, Russell T. Davies , decided to launch a spin-off : Torchwood . John Barrowman becomes the leader of a special team responsible for combating all supernatural threats to ensure the future of humanity. A character who is both charismatic and striking because, openly bisexual, he maintains a strong relationship with Ianto Jones. Four seasons later, he joined the sixth season of Desperate Housewives , playing environmental activist Patrick Logan.

In addition to his acting career, John Barrowman hosts numerous television shows on the British channel BBC. He is then the presenter of entertainment shows like Tonight’s The Night or Kids are All Right . He is even the subject of a documentary, The Making Of Me , where he addresses his homosexuality. In 2006, he appeared this time as a dancer in The Ice Show and charmed viewers.

The artist also dreamed of being an opera singer in his childhood, so it was in 2007 that he launched into music with a single entitled “Another Side” . Three years later, he toured Great Britain to promote his album “John Barrowman” .

In 2012, the multi-talented actor shined in Arrow , the series based on the famous DC Comics comic strip . He plays a key character, the dark Malcolm Merlyn also known as “the Black Archer” . The same year, he appeared in the credits of the Oscar-winning film: Zero Dark Thirty .
