Jerome Boateng Biography

It was as Jérôme Agyenim Boateng that the defender was born on September 3, 1988 in West Berlin at the time. He was born to a Ghanaian father from a German mother.

Since he was a child, Jerome had already shown to become a very good football player and thanks to this, he was able to start his training with the youth team of Tennis Borussia Berlin at the age of 6.

As stated, Boateng started his career with Tennis Borussia Berlin in 1994 and he stayed with the club until 2002 when he decided to pursue his youth career with German football club Hertha BSC. He remained with the club until the end of his career in 2006.

Jerome Boateng is set to launch his senior career after being promoted to Hertha BSC’s senior reserve team, Hertha BSC II. He played for the team from 2006 to 2007 and then he was called up to the senior squad when he left for Hamburger SV after just 10 games.

The centre-back played 75 games for Hamburger before moving to Manchester City in 2010. In 2011 he was already on his way back to the German League to play for his current club Bayern Munich. Even though he is a defender, at the end of the 2017/2018 season, he had already played 156 games scoring 4 goals.
