James D’Arcy is known to be a humble, modest, moderately ambitious and low-key actor with little or no interest in the hullabaloos of fame. He is a well trained and successful English actor with several film and TV show credits to his name.

James lost his father as a child and he and his little sister Charlotte were practically raised alone by their mother in Fulham, London.

Biography and education of James D’Arcy

Simon-James Richard D’Arcy was born on 24 th August 1975 to Caroline O’Connor (nurse) and Richard D’Arcy, in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, 27 miles northwest of London.

James D’Arcy realized his talent for actingwork in the drama department of Christ Church Grammar School in Perth, Australia. This is after he graduated from Bluecoat School, also known as Christ’s Hospital.

To gain more experience and perfect his acting James D’Arcy attended the London Academy of Music and Drama (LAMDA). After 3 years, he obtained his bachelor’s degree in interpretation in 1995. As part of his training at LAMDA, he was involved in plays such as “Wild Honey”“Heracles”, “Sherlock Holmes”, “As You love”, and “Freedom of the city”.

James D’Arcy’s Acting Career

James D’Arcy officially started his career in 1996 and appeared in a number of television shows and a few movies, where he played minor roles until 1999. Some of these early career filmography credits include ; “Silent Witness” (1996), Franny Roote in “Dalziel and Pascoe” (1996), ” Brookside” (1996), he played the role of Lord Cheshire in the television film “The Canterville Ghost” (1997), Nicholas Hawthorne in “Ruth Rendell Mysteries” (1997), Nicholas Jenkins in “A Dance to the Music of Time” (1997), Blifil in “The Story of Tom Jones: A Foundling”(1997), and he played the role of Private Colin Daventry in the movie “The Trench” (1999).

James began to play major roles in productions such as: “Rebellious Heart” where he played the role of Ernie Coyne, as well as “The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby” where he played the role of Nicholas Nickleby, the main character.

The following year, in 2002, he would play the lead characters in the TV movies, “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight” and “Sherlock: Case of Evil”. In 2003, he played Barnaby F. Caspian in “Point le je”, Jim Caddon in 6 episodes of “POW” as well as Lt. Tom Pullings in “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World”.

In the following years, he would portray Father Francis in Renny Harlin’s 2004 horror film, “Exorcist: The Beginning” (which is a prelude to the 1973 movement, The Exorcist), Richard Powell in “An American Haunting”, and appear as Derek Kettering and Jerry Burton in “Agatha Christie’s Poirot” (2005) and “Agatha Christie’s Marple” respectively.

In recent years he has been portrayed by Ian Fleming in the British war film ‘Age of Heroes’ (2011), King Edward VIII in Madonna’s ‘WE’ (2011), Rufus Sixsmith, Nurse James and archivist at the “Cloud Atlas” (2012).

He also played the role of Mr. Zimit in the 2014 science fiction film “La nuit chute” otherwise known as the philosophers; and Edwin Jarvis in the ABC television series “Agent Carter” (2015-2016). He is very popular for his role in this television series; Henry in “Guernica” (2016), a Spanish-American War romance film about the 1937 bombing of Guernica; and Colonel Winnant in the war film ‘ Dunkirk’.

As mentioned earlier, James D’Arcy is pretty tight-lipped, especially about his love life. There has been little to no disclosure regarding his love life, which is the result of a conscious effort on his part to limit media access to his private life.

In the absence of juicy relationship rumors, there are rumors that he is secretly gay on the internet, but these rumors have not been confirmed by any reputable source.

James D’Arcy has never been married, has no current girlfriend, and has no children that we know of. Sources reveal that he dated a co-star in the “Coming Together” (2002) TV movie, Lucy Punch. The couple are believed to be between 2002 and 2007 and are 5 years old. In an interview with The Daily Mail, James revealed he had his first kiss when he was 12 and the lucky girl was Louise Jerome.
