Tom Burke is a brilliant English actor who rose to fame through his appearance in the BBC action drama series The Musketeers He performed the lead role of Athos in the series from 2014 to 2016. The Musketeer star was born as Tom LiamBenedict Burke on June 30, 1981 in London, England. He comes from a line of movie stars and was raised by English parents Anna Calder-Marshall and her husband David Burke. He harbored the dream of becoming an actor from an early age which led him to enroll in the National Youth Theatre. Burke holds British nationality and is of white ethnicity.

During his childhood, suffered from a medical disorder called dyslexia. This made Tom’s academic development very difficult. Interestingly, Tom is so good at acting and comes from a starry family, that he had no trouble finding his way on camera. He has participated in several theatrical productions at the Young Arden Theater and the Box Clever Theatre. Tom also acted in different plays organized by his parents in their home town.

Acting career

Shortly after graduating, Burke made his first professional appearance in 1999 when he starred in the action comedy Dragonheart: A New Beginning After that, he went on to appear in his first TV series State of Play alongside John Simm in 2003. He followed with Bella and the Boys in 2004 as well as Cassanova with David Tennant in 2005.

He had a minor role in the BBC Heroes and Villains and The Trial of Tony Blair in 2007. The English actor portrayed Ronald Cartland in the British drama series Agatha Christie’s Poirot After which, he featured in a few episodes of other TV series, including The Hour, Leaving, and Great Expectations

Tom Burke had her breakthrough in 2014 when she landed a spot on the BBC series The Musketeers He played the main role of Athos in the series alongside Peter Capaldi and Cabrera Santiago from 2014 to 2016. Later he starred in War and Peace where he played Fedor Dolokhov in 2016. Since 2017 he plays the starring role in the British crime drama series titled The Strike starring Holliday Grainger and Ben Crompton.

In addition to his television career, the actor has also acted in several films to date. Some of her notable films include The Hooligan Factory, The Invincible Woman, Third Star, The Collectors, and I Want Candy, among others. Tom Burke has also made notable appearances in other theatrical productions, including Romeo and Juliet, Restoration, The Incarcerator, and The Creditors for which he won the Ian Charleson Award in 2008.
