Eddie George has done it all and seen it all as far as the National Football League (NFL) is concerned. The retired American football halfback was at the top of the game and played with the bigwigs of the league before deciding it was time to hang up his boots in 2006. Born to Edward Nathan George Jr., Eddie could be described as a success refers to athletes who have graced the NFL scene and who could be role models for the younger sports generation.

Hall of Fame parents Edward Nathan George Sr. and Donna George welcomed baby Eddie George on September 24, 1973, when he was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His father was not part of his childhood as he was raised by his mother, Donna, with the help of his older sister, Leslie George. To provide for the family. Donna would have several jobs. She combined the profession of mother, as a model, flight attendant (at Trans World Airlines) and production manager (at Ford Aerospace).

She worked hard and always encouraged her kids to be too. Today, Eddie George, after a successful career in the NFL, is doing well as a producer and acting producer. It’s a fact that going from NFL helmets and wedges to nice suits and ties isn’t as easy as Eddie made it seem, but he also has his upbringing to thank for being able to do it. When he played football in high school, his mother made sure that wasn’t the only thing he focused on; she also enrolled him in music, acting, and dance lessons.

His football prowess was there too to see as he played for Abington High School’s Abington Raiders before transferring to Fork Union Military Academy. After spending an additional year at Fork Union where he recorded 1,372 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns, he had several colleges ahead for his commitment. He committed to Ohio State University, where he started slowly for the Ohio State Buckeyes. He resumed his junior season and became a starter for the team. He rushed for 1,442 yards and scored 12 touchdowns this season.

The following season in 1995 was even better as George set a school record when he racked up 1,927 yards and 24 touchdowns, including 47 passes for 417 yards. His team finished the season 10-2 and on a personal note with George winning the Heisman Trophy and being named a consensus All-American First Team. At the university level, Eddie George earned a degree in landscape architecture and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Career

Eddie George was always going to be a first-round pick in the 1996 NFL Draft and watchers weren’t disappointed. He was chosen by the Houston Oilers as the 14th pick in the first round of the draft. He went straight to business as a running back and never missed a game for the Houston Oilers (now called the Tennessee Titans) during his rookie season. His performance earned him the NFL Rookie of the Year and the Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year gongs. In his second season with the Titans, George made it to the Pro Bowl (and did so for three more straight years). It also led them to their first-ever Super Bowl final – Super Bowl XXXIV, but they would lose to the St. Louis Rams in the 1999 season.

In 2000, Eddie George signed a six-year contract extension with the Titans worth $41.25 million, plus a $10 million signing bonus. It also included a one-year extension option that could be activated by the outfit. The deal made him one of the highest paid running backs in the league. However, after eight seasons with the Tennessee Titans, Eddie George left the team in 2004 after refusing to take a pay cut. He joined Dallas Cowboys on a one-year deal and was backed up by rookie Julius Jones, but he was never able to rebuild his form with the Titans. He therefore announced his retirement in 2006, at the age of 31.

After his football career, Eddie George got into acting. His first hit came in 2016 when he appeared in the Broadway musical Chicago. He played the character of Billy Flynn, a criminal lawyer hired by a housewife (Roxie Hart) as a defense attorney while she is on trial for murder.

Is he gay?

When the gay question arises concerning an athlete or celebrity, it is most often because they have no relationship with the opposite sex or have broken off several relationships with the opposite sex. Other reasons may be that they are LGBT advocates or supporters or someone of the same sex they are known to hang out with who they are dating are gay. In all the scenarios mentioned above, Eddie George cannot be integrated into any of them.

He said in 2012 when asked how he felt about Wade Davis who had just come out as gay, being a former cornerback for the NFL and Tennessee Titans, George indicated in his response that being gay was not his personal preference.

Taj, who participated in the CBS Reality Show Survivor Tocantins, shares a son with her husband named Eriq MichaelGeorge. However, she is also stepmother to George’s first son, Jaire David, whom he had with his college girlfriend, Angel Wood. The couple wrote a book together Married for Real: Building a Loving and Powerful Life Together.
