BIOGRAPHY
Danny Glover became interested in theater while attending college at San Francisco College. After having apprenticed at the “Black Actors’ Workshop” of the “American Conservatory Theater”, he performed in numerous shows including Macbeth , Suicide in B Flat , by Sam Shepard and in four plays by the South African playwright Athol Fugard, including The Blood Knot and The Island .

In 1979, Danny Glover made his film debut alongside Clint Eastwood in Don Siegel ‘s Escape from Alcatraz . In 1985, after a few years devoted to the small screen, the actor released three brilliant compositions under the direction of renowned directors. We see it in Witness by Peter Weir , Silverado by Lawrence Kasdan and especially The Color Purple by Steven Spielberg , which revealed it to the general public. In 1987, there was a public triumph with the action film Lethal Weapon by Richard Donner , where he inaugurated his famous duet with Mel Gibson . The saga, made up of four films, very quickly gave the actor undeniable sympathy among spectators. But Glover seeks to distance himself from the image of this massive cop close to retirement, notably by playing in the action film Predator 2 or in the dramatic comedies The Rage in the Heart , Grand Canyon or even The Saint of Manhattan . In 1993, Danny Glover agreed to play the title role of a black police officer in the midst of Apartheid in Morgan Freeman ‘s directorial debut , Bopha! . Increasingly rare on the big screen, he starred opposite Dennis Quaid in the thriller The Killer’s Trail (1997), before moving on to film Beloved by Jonathan Demme , in which he shared the lead with the American television presenter Oprah Winfrey . After a small role in The Tenenbaum Family , a bittersweet comedy by Wes Anderson , the actor explored a completely different register with the horror film Saw , then confirmed his eclecticism by participating, in 2005, in Lars von Trier ‘s Manderlay . In 2007,

Alongside his film career (and his political and humanitarian commitments), Danny Glover plays a recurring supporting role in the second season of Brothers & Sisters . In 2009, he played the President of the United States in Roland Emmerich ‘s 2012 blockbuster . The following year, he starred in Neil LaBute ‘s Death at a Funeral , a comedy centered on the “spicy” reunion between members of an African-American family at a funeral, in which he found Chris Rock , his partner from Lethal Weapon 4 .
