Son of Tom Hanks , one of the most bankable actors of all time, Colin Hanks was immersed very early in the world of the seventh art. He was educated at Sacramento Country Day School and then at Chapman University, and received his high school diploma from Loyola Marymount University.

The young man was revealed in 1999 with the science fiction series Roswell where he played Alex Whitman during its first two seasons. He then took part in two episodes of the HBO war series created by his father and Steven Spielberg , Brothers in Arms , before obtaining several film roles.
