Sam Elliott, an American actor, known for his deep voice, thick mustache, and western accent, those characteristics have led him to portray more like cowboys and ranchers.

Who is Sam Elliott?

Sam Elliott is an American actor born on August 9, 1944 in Sacramento, California, the son of Henry Nelson Elliott and Glynn Mamie. Although Elliott’s parents originally came from El Paso, Texas, they had to move to Portland, Oregon when he was just a 13-year-old boy.

Sam Elliott graduated from ‘ David Douglas High School ‘ in 1962 and attended ‘University of Oregon’ later. There he majored in psychology and English for nearly two terms before finally dropping out. Then, near Vancouver, Washington, he went to Clark College to complete a two-year program from which he graduated in 1965.

Once again, he enrolled in the ‘University of Oregon’, but had to drop out a second time after his father’s death due to a heart attack when he was only 18 years old. Speaking of fact, Elliott didn’t get much support from his father. him when he told her that he wanted to be an actor, but would instead encourage Elliott more to get a college degree.

Later, to pursue a career in Hollywood, he moved to Los Angeles and worked in construction while studying acting. He also served in the California Air National Guard’s ‘163rd Airlift Wing.’

Sam Elliott’s first project would be a 1967 western adventure film called ‘The Way West’. He played the part of a citizen of Missouri, however, he did not get any credit for it. Later in 1969, he got his first television credit on ‘Judd for the Defense’ in the episode called ‘The Crystal Maze’.

Also, in 1969, he played Renslo on a show called ‘Lancer’. Additionally, he appeared in two additional episodes of Lancer in mid-1970 and 1971. Around the same time, Elliott made his breakthrough in ‘ Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid ‘ as a card player. Also, during the year 1970-1971, he starred in several episodes of ‘Mission: Impossible’ as ‘Doug Robert’.

After all of his minor and supporting roles, Elliott was finally cast in a lead role in the TV movie ‘Will Fight No More Forever’ as ‘Charles Wood’ in 1975. Also, from 1976-1977, he played ‘Sam Damon’ (Main Character) in a miniseries called ‘Once an Eagle’. During the same year, he also played ‘Rick Carlson’ in ‘Life Guard’.
