Born July 1, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois, to a Sally, mother of a postal worker – and Floyd Braugher, father of a heavy equipment operator – is the youngest of four children. He was educated at St. Ignatius College Prep and then at Stanford University, where he studied acting and received a bachelor’s degree in 1984. He then began and completed a master’s program in the theater division of the Julliard School, where he graduated. an MFA in 1988.
