Maryam Sanda To Die By Hanging

Maryam Sanda has been found guilty and convicted of murdering her husband, Bilyamin Mohammed Bello and has been sentenced to death by hanging.

A federal capital territory (FCT) high court gave the verdict on Monday, 27th January 2020 in the case where Sanda stood trial on a two-count charge of culpable homicide.

She reportedly attempted fleeing after the court pronounced judgement but was held back by court and prison officials.

Bello, the nephew of Haliru Mohammed Bello, a former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was killed in November, 2017, Naija News recalls.

Bello was stabbed to death with a bottle in November, 2017 and the Police had charged Sanda with culpable homicide in the death of her husband.

She, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge against her.
