FCT Police React To Viral Claim Of Nyanya Youths Selling Kidneys For Money

The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has dismissed claims that it received a report on the alleged sale of kidneys in the Nyanya area of Abuja, as being circulated on social media.

Naija News reports that the Command Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, made the clarification in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

Adeh explained that the statement had become necessary considering that there were publications being circulated on social media alleging that the command had confirmed reports that young people residing around Nyanya in the FCT had sold their kidneys for money.

She said the publications also alleged that an agent in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, was purchasing the kidneys from the young people

“The Police Command in the FCT wishes to categorically state that it has neither received nor confirmed any report of such nature.

“No statement or communication to that effect has emanated from the command,” she said.

Adeh urged the public to disregard the publication and refrain from circulating unverified information capable of causing unnecessary fear, panic and apprehension among residents.

She enjoined anyone with information regarding the alleged human organ trafficking or any other security concern within the FCT to promptly report to the nearest police station or to the command through the following phone numbers: 07038979348 or 08028940883.
