Zamfara Assembly Recalls Suspended Member After Apology

The Zamfara State House of Assembly has reinstated the member representing Tsafe West Constituency, Hon. Amiru Ahmad Keta, following an apology submitted to the lawmakers.

Keta’s suspension was lifted with immediate effect after the House considered the apology letter submitted by the lawmaker.

The development was contained in a statement issued on Monday, August 24, by the Chief Press Secretary to the Assembly, Bello Madaro Kurya.

Naija News understands that Keta was among eight lawmakers suspended by the House.

The decision to recall Keta followed a report presented by the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges during Monday’s sitting.

The committee chairman, Hon. Nura Dahiru Sabon Birnin Dan Ali, who represents Birnin Magaji Constituency, recommended that the suspension be lifted immediately.

However, the committee also asked Keta to withdraw all pending court cases he instituted against the House and the Zamfara State Government.

The recommendation was considered by the lawmakers before the House reached a unanimous decision on the matter.

Following contributions from members, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, announced that the Assembly had unanimously agreed to lift Keta’s suspension.

Moriki said the decision took effect immediately.

The Speaker also indicated that the Assembly was ready to consider the cases of other suspended lawmakers willing to return to the House.

He said the suspended members would be given an opportunity if they were prepared to tender unconditional apologies.

Moriki commended the Committee on Ethics and Privileges for what he described as its diligent handling of Keta’s case.
