Nollywood actor, Olatayo Amokade, better known as Ijebu, has called on his family, friends, colleagues and associates to pardon him for any wrong he may have committed against them.
Naija News reports that the actor made the emotional appeal on Monday following the death of veteran Yoruba actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.
Recall that Ogogo died on Sunday at the age of 66 after battling cancer.
In a video posted on his Instagram page, Ijebu said the veteran actor’s death had made him reflect deeply on the brevity of life and the need for people to resolve their differences while they can.
He said he had been awake since 6 am because of the emotional burden he was carrying.
Ijebu said, “Good morning, everyone. My heart is so heavy this morning. I have been awake since 6 am. My heart is so heavy.”
The actor then used the opportunity to apologise to anyone he might have offended, whether within the entertainment industry or outside it.
He further stated, “If there’s anyone that I have offended in one way or the other, please forgive me.”
Ijebu specifically mentioned his seniors, colleagues, workers and younger actors, asking them to overlook his shortcomings.
He said, “My boss, my workers, the younger ones behind me and my colleagues in the movie industry, I want to use this medium to beg you all for forgiveness. I’m a sinner; please forgive me.”
The actor explained that his message was also an opportunity to let go of grievances and reconcile with people who may have wronged him.
According to him, carrying resentment was unnecessary, especially in the face of life’s uncertainty.
“My heart is so heavy. I’m making this video to make peace with everyone in order to reduce the burden on my heart. And I’m also here to tell everyone who has offended me that I have forgiven you,” he stated.
Reflecting on Ogogo’s death, Ijebu urged people to stop holding grudges and engaging in prolonged disputes.
He noted that everyone would eventually leave the world without taking material possessions along.
“We came to this world with nothing, and we will leave with nothing. We don’t have any reason to be fighting ourselves. Life is too short,” the actor said.
