The remains of veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, have been brought to his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State, ahead of his burial.
Naija News reports that Hassan, who died at the age of 66 on Sunday, was received in Ilaro by grieving family members, friends, colleagues and residents as preparations for his final rites commenced.
Among the veteran actors who arrived in Ilaro were Yinka Quadri and Jide Kosoko, who joined other mourners to commiserate with Hassan’s family.
Actress Ireti Osayemi was also present in the town for the burial, with footage of her arrival circulated on social media.
Hassan died on August 23, 2026, after reportedly battling stage-four cancer.
His death came shortly after his daughters, Kira and Lima Taiwo, publicly sought urgent assistance for their father as his health deteriorated.
The family had disclosed that the actor was suffering from an advanced stage of the disease and required urgent medical attention.
They sought further treatment after doctors informed them that chemotherapy could no longer be administered because of his condition.
According to the burial programme, Hassan’s remains were taken to Ilaro for his final rites. A lying-in-state ceremony was scheduled to take place at the Pavilion in Ilaro on Monday, ahead of his burial.
