Super Eagles goalkeeper Amas Obasogie has completed a return to Bendel Insurance, signing a one-year contract with the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club.

The 26-year-old shot-stopper returns to the Benin City outfit after two years abroad, during which he played in Ethiopia and Tanzania.

Bendel Insurance announced the return of their former captain in a post on their official X account on Monday.

“Back where it all began. Former captain and Super Eagles goalkeeper Amas Obasogie returns and signs a one-year contract. Welcome home, Amas. The story continues,” the club wrote.

Obasogie left Bendel Insurance in 2024 for Ethiopian Premier League side Fasil Kenema Sport Club. He later joined Tanzanian Premier League club Singida Black Stars before deciding to return to familiar territory.

The goalkeeper said his time away from the club had helped him grow, both professionally and personally.

“Back to where part of my journey began. Sometimes, life takes you away so you can grow, learn, and become stronger,” Obasogie wrote on Instagram.

“Today, I’m grateful for the opportunity to return to my former team, not just as a player, but with more experience, hunger, and determination.

“I’m ready to give my all for the badge, the team, and the supporters. Back home, back to work. Let the journey continue.”

Obasogie also paid an emotional tribute to Singida Black Stars following his departure from the Tanzanian club.

“It has been an honour to wear this badge and represent this great team. The memories, challenges, victories, and friendships I gained here will always remain special to me,” he stated.

“Though my journey with the club is coming to an end, Singida Black Stars will always have a special place in my heart.

“I wish the club nothing but success and greater achievements in the future. Thank you, Singida Black Stars. Once a star, always a star.”

Obasogie was part of the Super Eagles squad that won the bronze medal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco. He has made one appearance for the three-time African champions.

His return gives Bendel Insurance a familiar and experienced option between the posts as they prepare for the 2026/27 NPFL season.

Niger Tornadoes Return To Bako Kontagora Stadium

Meanwhile, Niger Tornadoes returned to the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna earlier today, August 24, as they intensify preparations for the new NPFL season.

The Ikon Allah Boys will resume full training at their home ground after spending an extended period away due to renovation work.

Niger Tornadoes have played their home matches at neutral venues since work began on the Bako Kontagora Stadium, but the venue has now undergone renovation ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

The club will await final approval from the NPFL before the start of the new season.

A return to Minna would provide a timely boost for Niger Tornadoes, who will host Enyimba in their opening game of the campaign.
