‘The Office Was Shut Months Ago’ – OSGF Staff Member Speaks On Fake Federal Agency

A staff member of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) has disclosed that the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office, at the centre of an alleged fake agency controversy, had been closed for several months.

Speaking to Sunday Punch on condition of anonymity, the staff member said the office had stopped functioning before the recent controversy.

The source said, “It was not operating as an agency, but I know it was under investigation… The office was shut months ago.”

Naija News reports that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) had alleged that the office was allocated space within the OSGF without presidential approval.

However, George Nwabueze, who describes himself as the National Coordinator and Executive Director of the project office, has produced documents he said showed that the OSGF formally approved his appointment.

One of the documents, dated October 3, 2025, purportedly conveyed the approval of Nwabueze’s appointment as National Coordinator/Executive Director of the Made in Nigeria Project Office.

Meanwhile, Sunday Punch gathered that the police had not been formally briefed about the alleged promoter of the organisation.

Sources within the police said no manhunt could be launched until the force received an official communication concerning the suspect.

The controversy followed President Bola Tinubu’s directive to arrest Prince George Buchi Nwabueze and suspend three permanent secretaries after the ICPC uncovered the purported agency operating within the OSGF.

The commission also raised questions about the involvement of senior public servants in the operation of the purported agency.
