Super Falcons To Face Comoros In 2028 Olympic Qualifiers After 30-0 Rout Of Sudan

The Super Falcons of Nigeria will take on Comoros in the second round of the qualifiers for the women’s football event at the 2028 Olympic Games after the island nation demolished Sudan 30-0 on aggregate in the opening round.

Comoros produced one of the most emphatic performances of the qualifying campaign, hammering Sudan 17-0 in the first leg before completing the job with a 13-0 win in the return fixture.

The Coelacanths’ ruthless display secured their passage to a much tougher assignment against reigning African champions Nigeria.

Despite Comoros’ remarkable scoring spree, the Super Falcons will head into the tie as overwhelming favourites. Nigeria remain Africa’s most successful women’s national team and arrive in strong form ahead of the two-legged encounter.

Justine Madugu’s side demonstrated their credentials on Monday night with a convincing 3-0 win over Senegal in an international friendly at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.

Naija News reports that the win followed a 2-1 success over the Teranga Lionesses in the first friendly meeting between the two sides last week, extending Nigeria’s positive run ahead of next month’s 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, where they will defend their continental crown.

The second-round Olympic qualifiers are scheduled to be played between October 5 and October 13, 2026.

Only two African nations will secure places in the women’s football tournament at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, United States.
