Peter Okoye Reacts After Being Told He’s Too Old To Sing, Dance

Nigerian singer Peter Okoye has responded to critics who questioned his age after the release of his new song, I Can’t Look Away.

Naija News reports that the discussion started on social media after a woman reacted to the singer’s latest release, writing, “I don’t get why an almost 50-year-old man is still singing like this. It’s okay to retire.”

The comment drew reactions from fans and celebrities, including media personality Do2dtun, popularly known as Dotun.

Defending Peter, he pointed to several global music stars who remain active despite their age.

According to Dotun, “Celine Dion is 58 years old, Shakira is 49 years old, Beyoncé is 44, Busta Rhymes 54, Bruce Springsteen is 76, Lionel Richie is 76, and the oldest Backstreet Boy is 54.”

He added that all of them still perform and entertain audiences around the world, arguing that Peter’s age should not be used against him.
