1. Tinubu Sends Special Message To Nigeria’s Security Forces
President Bola Tinubu on Monday, issued a message of appreciation to the personnel of the various security agencies in Nigeria, describing them as a shield between innocent citizens and those who seek to destroy the peace, safety, and dignity of the country’s communities.
The President, in a personally signed message, praised their courage, dedication and sacrifices in combating all forms of terrorism and criminality in the country.
Naija News reports that President Tinubu, in his message, gave fresh assurances that Nigeria will not surrender to fear, will not allow terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, or violent extremists to define the people.
He acknowledged that the fight against insecurity has not been easy, but assured that the government will not give up.
Tinubu also called on civilians to support the security forces by providing timely and useful information to aid operations.
2. Leadership Requires Very Harsh Decisions – Shettima
The Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, has defended the economic policies of the Bola Tinubu administration, stating that leadership involves taking hard, harsh decisions in the overall interest of the country.
Speaking on Monday at the Lagos State investment summit, the Vice President submitted that leaders cannot always make nice decisions because they don’t take action based on emotion.
He also praised Lagos State as the economic gateway not only to Nigeria, but to the entire West African sub-region, saying the state provides access to capital, talents, resources and opportunities.
According to Shettima, the macroeconomic policies of the Tinubu government are targeted at restoring market confidence and improving fiscal sustainability.
He noted that President Tinubu has taken the bullet for making critical decisions because the administration understands that the economy the country deserves can’t be built on illusions.
3. Why Tinubu Wants To Keep El-Rufai Incarcerated Until After 2027 – Dalung
Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu is afraid of former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai.
He stated that El-Rufai fought tooth and nail to ensure Tinubu emerged as president.

Describing Tinubu as El-Rufai’s creation, Dalung claimed that there is a deliberate attempt to keep the former governor incarcerated until after 2027.
4. Presidency Confirms 3 Dead As Warri-Itakpe Train Derails
Not less than three passengers have been confirmed dead following the derailment of the Warri–Itakpe Train Service on Monday.
Naija News reports that the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) confirmed the derailment, adding that emergency response teams and relevant authorities are at the scene, attending to the situation and providing necessary assistance.
The train accident occurred at Agbor along the Warri–Itakpe Train Service (WITS) corridor in Delta State.
The NRC said the situation is being monitored and further updates will be provided.
However, an update on the incident, provided in a statement by the presidency, said that three people have been confirmed dead.
The statement extended condolences to the families of the victims and Nigerians at large, adding that the NRC will provide further updates on the incident.
5. ‘Where Is The Evidence?’ – Borno Govt Says No Ransom Paid To Free 360 Boko Haram Captives
The Borno State Government has dismissed claims that ransom was paid before the release of 360 abductees from the Mandara mountains.
Naija News reports that the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Usman Tar, stated this on Channels Television’s Morning Brief on Monday.
Tar insisted that the rescue was carried out through an intelligence-led military operation with support from the Department of State Services.
Operation Hadin Kai had earlier announced the rescue of the abductees from a Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad enclave.
The operation involved Special Forces and troops of Sector 1 after weeks of intelligence gathering, covert reconnaissance and planning.
The victims, comprising men, women and children, were reportedly abducted from communities around the Ngoshe axis and held under harsh conditions.
Tar said the Boko Haram insurgency had evolved from its original ideological foundation into a criminal enterprise sustained by abductions and exploitation.
6. Don’t Play Politics With Our Lives – Abducted Oyo Principal Debunks ₦1Billion Ransom, Sharia Claims In New Video
A school principal among those kidnapped in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State has dismissed reports that their abductors are demanding ₦1 billion ransom, weapons, or the implementation of Sharia law.
Speaking via a new video, the principal, Mrs Alamu, urged the public to desist from spreading false information that could jeopardise their release.
Speaking in the video released by the terrorists, Alamu said the abductors had shown the captives copies of reports circulating online regarding their alleged demands.
According to her, reports claiming that the terrorists are demanding the release of fighters, payment of ₦1 billion ransom, weapons, and the implementation of Sharia law are inaccurate.
Alamu said the misinformation was complicating negotiations and could hinder efforts to secure the freedom of the captives.

Nigerian music executive Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has disclosed that he went back to look for the girls who rejected him in secondary school after he became successful.
According to the singer, he was traumatised by the rejection he faced in secondary school.

The music producer explained that his experience affected him psychologically, even into adulthood.
He further revealed that after becoming successful and famous, he went back to look for the girls in a bid to overcome the psychological trauma.

Veteran Nigerian singer SkyB has said that many music acts from Port Harcourt who rose after him have not shown him support in return for his early role in the industry.
Naija News reports that he shared this during a recent interview on the KAA Truth podcast, where he spoke about his career struggles and how things have changed over time.
SkyB said that in the past, he supported some artistes from the city, including Mr. 2Kay and Timaya, when he was more active and had influence in the music scene.
He explained that he invested time and resources to help push the Port Harcourt music space forward, but now feels left behind since his fame reduced.
He also spoke about Burna Boy, saying the Grammy-winning star and other newer artistes from the same region did not reach out to support him.

France defender Ibrahima Konate has agreed a four-year contract with Real Madrid after leaving Liverpool, according to a source close to the negotiations.

10. Yamal, Williams To Return For Spain’s World Cup Opening Game
Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has confirmed that Barcelona teenage star Lamine Yamal and Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams are expected to be available for the country’s opening match at the World Cup.
Spain will begin their campaign against debutants Cape Verde on June 15, with De la Fuente saying the two wingers are progressing well from hamstring injuries.
Yamal and Williams both missed the closing stages of the club season due to injury, raising concerns over their readiness for the tournament.
However, De la Fuente said on Sunday that the pair, alongside Osasuna winger Victor Munoz, should be fit for Spain’s first game in Atlanta.
The three players did not travel with the rest of the squad to Mexico for Monday’s friendly against Peru.
